Antique Victorian gold metal lorgnette glasses pendant
Add something really special to your neck mess with these wonderful Victorian lorgnette glasses!
They fold out from a neat pendant into little glasses to read a programme in the opera stalls of Victorian England. We love jewellery with a function! You can also leave them folded and use the piece as a quizzing glass. They look fantastic on a solid gold or silver antique chain…back in the day they would be worn on a long guard chain attached by a dog clasp, so they were always at hand for the wearer.
The stem is formed as an anchor with a good loop for your chain to go through. Beautiful goldwork details cover every component of this piece – we particularly like the faceting round the edge of the lenses.
This is a gold plated piece with a little wear showing here and there. There is also a chip to one lens, as well as surface wear to both lenses. Only to be expected as they are well over 100 years old.
