Victorian old cut diamond 18ct gold carved half hoop ring circa 1890 A fine and substantial high carat gold ring, set with five glittering diamonds. It was likely the prized engagement ring of a Victorian lady, and must have been kept for best as it has so little wear after around 130 years. The round cut centre stone measures approximately 3.2mm, flanked by four graduated stones. Two of these are round cut and two are more of a cushion cut, with the prongs squeezed a little tighter to compensate. It is not particularly noticeable unless you are looking with a loupe. The bigger cushion cut measures around 2.2 x 2.7mm, while its round-cut counterpart is 3mm. The round cut outer diamond is 2.5, and the cushion cut one 2.1 x 2.4mm. Each diamond is cut the old way, with the tip of every culet cut off. Together their very approximate carat weight would be around .4. The setting is a splendid carved, scrolled mount, ornate with backholing and high claw settings that create a wonderful, clean line of these most desired of stones. The band is heavily made in unmarked yellow gold, and feels really comfortable on the hand. It is around 2.4mm. The top of the ring is 18mm across, with a width of 5.1mm and a rise of 4.5mm. This is a ring of timeless design and will give you polish and elelgance on any occasion. Carnelian fob seal with monogram
Ornate Victorian yellow gold fob seal set with monogrammed carnelian Elaborate scrolled gold work forms the top of this magnificent fob seal. This was likely the prized accessory of a Victorian lady or gent, worn at the end of their watch chain. A vivid orange carnelian has been carved with the monogram HN within a frame. It tests as gold and does appear to be solid - though it might have some base metal inside to give it strengh. The condition is very clean and nice. It measures 30.4mm in height. The carnelian set terminal measures 20.4 x 17mm. The bail has an inner diameter of around 4.9mm. The outside of the bail has a width of 5.3mm. Pretty beaded finial to top. Green paste half hoop ring
Victorian foiled green paste 15ct gold closed back half hoop ring It’s a pleasure to offer for sale this super charming - and very collectable - antique stacking band. It presents a uniform row of five foil back hard glass stones of pleasing vivid green colour. Each measures around 3mm. They are brilliant cut and simulate real emeralds very well – but without the hefty price tag! Green paste of the 19th century is in itself relatively hard to find and rather sought after. (See p.97 of Georgian Jewellery, Dawes and Collings, for a wonderful look at Georgian era green paste jewellery.) The middle three stones are quite light and bright in colour, while each outer stone is a deeper moss green. This gives a nice variation and depth as we look upon the ring. The stones are all set closed back in beautiful buttery gold, and joined to a simple bifurcated band which tapers from 3.8mm at the shoulder to 2.85 at the underside. There is no date mark, merely a clear 15ct stamp, but as this composition of gold was only used from 1854 to 1932, at a guess we can date this ring from around the 1850s-60s from its style. We don't recommened getting the ring wet as it would cause the foils to deteriorate . Vintage garnet and pearl ring
Heavy vintage garnet cabochon and seed pearl 9ct gold ring A fine vintage ring made in the Antique taste, the domed centre set with an open-backed garnet carbuncle, encircled by a halo of wonderful ivory seed pearls. The elaborate shoulders depict posies of little carved flowers accented by beads. The oval top of the ring measures 16.8mm north to south, and 12.8mm in width. It rises by around 6.5mm. The garnet in its gold setting is around 9mm, with a width of 7.6mm. The ring is 19.2mm across both shoulders. The band is a good 2.4mm in width. This is a lovely solid piece of jewellery with an ornate and feminine aspect on the hand.
